Solent NHS Trust would like to invite enthusiastic and motivated qualified Health Visitors, to join our flexible workforce delivering The Healthy Child Programme to children and families across the Isle of Wight

We are looking for Health Visitors who can work a minimum of 22.5 hours a week and in return you will be well supported through a positive culture of regular clinical and safeguarding supervision and one to one line management. We recognise our skilled workforce as our most valuable resource and support continual professional development, offering ongoing learning opportunities.

We are looking for applicants with excellent communication skills, who are flexible, able to work across the Island and have the ability to implement new and exciting ways of working. Good organisational skills, the ability to problem solve, and an ability to develop an effective rapport with a variety of service users is essential. Working as part of a team in a collaborative way with a range of professionals is integral to the role.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

To work in partnership with other health care providers to provide a holistic, responsive, family centred Public Health service to children and families in the wider community. The post holder will actively search for and stimulate awareness of health needs, facilitate health enhancing activities and influence policies that affect health inequalities through delivery of a needs-led, high quality, evidence-based service, offering support, guidance and line management to multi-disciplinary teams and promoting the Health Visiting & School Nursing Service within the multi-agency field.

Our Health Visitors are part of the Public Health Nursing team who deliver the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme to children and families across the Isle of Wight.

The Health Visiting role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop skills within Public Health Nursing and maximize the contribution of the six High Impact Areas. Person specification



BSc Nursing or RN currently registered with NMC.

Post registration, specialist training relevant to speciality.

Masters and Degrees in Public Health.

Nurse Prescribing.

Teaching and assessing of Students and Staff.


Working with statutory and voluntary agencies.



Experience of working as part of a multi-agency team.

Planning and implementing programmes of care.

Evaluating outcomes of programmes of care.

Supervising and assessing students.

Working with children and families.

Working with children in need and safeguarding children.

Engaging in health promoting activities.

Experience of working in a constantly changing environment.
